i did some research and picked the gps that would work for my needs. as always a quality product and no surprises.
I always have to lean forward and yell at it for people to understand me. Everyone knows the pros and people only read these for the cons. Great features, quick calcs, useful/fun tools. Not the safest for driving.Saving drive logs: either I'm dumb or the feature is unavailable, but you cannot save a route's drive log to the hard drive, or to your SD card. This review will harp on the cons but do note that I love this GPS and could rant for awhile on why.Iffy keyboard: most of the buttons are large and bulky so it's no big deal, but when using the QWERTY keyboard, the accuracy of your press is honestly about 50%. I have larger hands, but still, I can type better on an iPhone or Blackberry than this thing.Terrible microphone: if your phone has Bluetooth and you're using the handsfree call features, callers will complain that you sound like your in a bathroom or far far away. I find this irritating since I would like to know which path to work is actually the fastest. Instead, I have to click log, and literally write down the time.If you forget, the GPS continues logging with subsequent routes so the second you forget to write it down, the actual time from point to point is lost.
This GPS works well. If it is possible to customize the desired route, I have not been able to figure out how to do this. It does give you the choice to have multiple stops, so that can sometimes be a way around the problem. Otherwise, the bluetooth works well but I agree with a review I read which said the speaker volume is on the low side.
I am very happy with this purchase. I like that it gives me fair warning when I am approaching a turn ahead (I've been around other GPS systems that practically tell you when you are mid-turn). I am not high tech AT ALL. I love that this GPS is extremely user-friendly. I like that the screen is easy to read. Overall, a great investment.
I have not had a single problem with my Nuvi and I use it daily. It has so many features and all of them are usable without subscription except for the "traffic" feature. It's well built, user friendly, and doubles as an MP3 player and a "hands-free" blue-tooth device in your car.
